2018 board appointments

Leduc County invites county residents to apply for the following positions. A mileage and honorarium are provided with the exception of the Leduc County Library Board and the New Sarepta Advisory Committee.


FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Acts in an advisory capacity to council and to the director of F.C.S.S. and is responsible for overseeing the development and operation of the program, and to ensure F.C.S.S. act and regulations are adhered to. The committee is made up of representatives of one representative of council from each participating municipality of Calmar, Thorsby and Warburg; two representatives from county council; two members at large (county residents, with one representing rural east and the other representing rural west).

Position available: One

  • one member from rural east) expiring December 31, 2019

Meeting frequency: Third Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m.


LEDUC COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD
Manages, regulates and controls municipal library services.

Positions available: One expiring December 31, 2020
Meeting frequency: Mondays generally four times per year commencing at 6:30 p.m. at New Sarepta.

Persons appointed by council will serve along with six members of the New Sarepta library region and two councillors.
The library board position is a voluntary position; no per diem or mileage will be paid.


NEW SAREPTA DISTRICT RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Provide information and identification of public parks and recreation needs; suggest improved or enhanced services to meet local needs; represent the general public as a voice to council and administration; provide information and resources to community groups providing recreation/athletic/cultural services to residents.

Positions available: Two expiring December 31, 2019
Meeting frequency: Twice per year, as determined by the committee.

Persons appointed by council will serve along with one member representing New Sarepta & District Agricultural Society; one member representing New Sarepta Golden Pioneers; one member representing local youth sport groups (must be a member of local youth sport group); one member representing the halls of Looma, Rolly View or Cloverlawn; one youth representative; and two councillors. This position is a voluntary position; no per diem or mileage will be paid.


PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Acts in an advisory capacity to council.

Positions available: Two

  • one member of the Beaumont Regional Board expiring December 31, 2019
  • one member of the Leduc Regional Board Region expiring December 31, 2019

Meeting frequency: Four times per year on Wednesday, commencing at 6:30 p.m.

Persons appointed by council will serve along with seven members of the community and two councillors.


SUBDIVISION AND DEVELOPMENT APPEAL BOARD
This is a quasi-judicial board which acts independently and make decisions on subdivision, development permit and stop order appeals.

Positions available: Three
Term: One year ending December 31, 2018
Meeting frequency: Approximately every three weeks commencing at 9 a.m.

The persons appointed by council will serve as public members on the board with two councillors.
