Vehicle Axle Weight Committee
The Axle Weight Committee sets maximum allowable weights permitted on local roads within Leduc County. Weight restrictions and road bans are placed on Leduc County roadways to restrict the weight of commercial vehicles and goods being carried by commercial vehicles to protect the road way infrastructure from damages.
Road bans in Leduc County are usually placed on the roadways anytime after March 1 and stay in effect until the end of May. Most road bans are dependent on weather and, as a result, this time period may change.
Gravel roads are generally banned at 75 per cent but can be changed if conditions warrant. Most oil surfaced and asphalt-based course roads are banned at 75 per cent; however, some roads may be banned at 50 per cent. The potential for damage and the current condition of the road dictates the percentage of the ban.
