Dog Control Services
Leduc County employs a dog control officer on a contract basis. The dog control officer is responsible for monitoring and investigating dog complaints from county residents, as well as enforcing action, if necessary, in accordance with the Dog Control Bylaw 22-05.

This bylaw requires dog owners to be accountable for their dogs. Dogs are not permitted to run at large, cause a nuisance or disturbances by barking, etc. There are also provisions for vicious dogs.

Dog Bites

If you have been bitten by a dog or your animal has been bitten by a dog, seek medical or veterinary assistance immediately and report the situation to the dog control officer as soon as possible.

When reporting the incident please provide the follow information:

  • your name, address, home and business numbers
  • the offending dog(s) current whereabouts
  • brief details of the incident, including names and number of witnesses
  • photograph of injuries if possible, location, time and date of the incident
  • description of dog (i.e. colour and size)
  • identifying features (collar, harness, markings, etc.)
  • owner of dog if known.

Stray or lost dogs are taken to Black Gold Kennels only through authorization of the dog control officer. You may call the kennel regarding impounded dogs. Any unclaimed dogs are up for adoption. If you are interested in adopting a dog please contact the kennel for further information
