early learning and care community support
The following free services are available to any agency or persons working with children six years of age or younger:

  • Child development information and programming support
  • Program observation: offered as a way to support each child in a successful early learning experience. It is confidential and intended to be a resource to the teacher and families of the program. The observations and/or screens may be utilized to identify specific programming needs for individual children, factors in the environment influencing behavior or additional supports that a child might benefit from.
  • Ages and stages developmental screening: for programs and individual families who request it.
  • Information on professional development: for early learning and care professionals within the community
  • Creative movement: 25-minute single session program exploring movement and music
  • Story cases: for preschools and childcare programs. An early childhood resource worker provides a 30-minute program that includes a storytelling experience and early literacy activity related to the story. At the end of the program each family receives information on literacy exploration at home and the program receives two story cases for lending out to families. These “story cases” contain a rebus version of the story, the book shared and other story props stored in a container that can travel and be shared with family and peers.

  • SPEAK: Safe Preschoolers Education and Awareness Kit
  • Child find: fingerprint clinic
  • Parent workshops: for the early learning and care program families by request.
