Private landowners may enter into an agreement with Leduc County if they do not wish to have herbicide applied in road ditches adjacent to their property. Upon acceptance of a no spray application, Leduc County Agricultural Services installs "no spray" signage to alert spray operators to avoid herbicide applications adjacent to the land under agreement.
To alleviate the requirement for herbicide weed and brush control, the landowner agrees to maintain the road right-of-way by removing all noxious weeds. As well, the landowner must ensure that tall vegetation and encroaching brush (which may impair vision) is kept mowed to protect the safety of motorists. Properties under agreement will be inspected regularly to ensure that landowners are maintaining the road ditches adjacent to their property in accordance with the terms of the agreement.
