Youth services in Leduc County get a healthy boost from local business Second Glance

NOV. 25 - Earlier today, Second Glance presented Leduc County Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) with a $1500 grant donation to further the youth services activities and programs offered to youth throughout the county.

“We are very grateful for this donation,” says Jennifer Hourihan, FCSS director with Leduc County. “This will enable us to enhance the programming and services we provide support and empower the youth in our communities.”

One program that will see a direct benefit from this grant is the Youth Healthy Asset-building (YHA) Mentors Group, which is based on the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets model. This model has identified 40 building blocks of healthy development that all of us have the power to bring into the lives of children and teenagers. These 40 developmental assets have grown out of extensive research on positive relationships, experiences, opportunities, and personal qualities that help young people grow up healthy, caring, and responsible.

For more information on this and other community youth programs offered in our communities, contact Judy Dumont with Leduc County’s Family Support and Youth Services at 780-446-2042.
