Long Range Planning

The map shows the statutory plans that have been approved by the County as well as the projects currently underway. The projects currently underway are either lead by the County or by a proponent. Even though a project may be lead by a proponent, the County is always involved as it requests that all proponents follow the County Terms of References for their project, and in addition, the County always manages the public hearing in each process. Only the projects that are approved by Council will become statutory plans.

1.) Planning is a public activity. Public engagement is critical to good planning.

3.) Planning is a collaborative exercise. Long Range Planning engages a wide range of stakeholders in its work including other Leduc County departments, public and private agencies, non-profit organizations, planning professionals, and private citizens in order to combine the largest collective of knowledge possible for each of its planning projects.

5.) Municipal partnerships strengthen us all. Long Range Planning works to develop the relationships Leduc County has with its municipal neighbours and to promote the Leduc region in Alberta.
6.) New development must be sustainable. Long Range Planning works to prepare the communities of Leduc County for a future which will involve a changing climate, energy regime, municipal funding structure and the need to restore natural areas
