Animal Control By-Law

Leduc County has a contracted Animal Control Officer who provides Dog Control for this area.  The authority for the Animal Control Officer is derived from the Animal Control By-Law.  This bylaw has provisions that require dog owners to be responsible for their animals.  Dogs are not permitted to run at large, cause a nuisance, cause disturbance by barking, etc.  There are also provisions that restrict vicious and other restricted dogs.

Dog Control is dispatched through the Constables Services at (780) 955-5005.

Seek medical attention immediately to avoid the risk of infection.

All dogs bites should be reported immediately to Animal Control. When reporting the incident, please try to provide the following information:

  • Your name address, home and business numbers.
  • The offending dogs current whereabouts.
  • Brief details of the incident, including names and numbers of witnesses
  • A photograph of injuries if possible
  • The location time and date of the incident
  • Description of Dog (For Example: Colour and size of the dog.)
  • Any identifying features (ie. collar/harness markings etc.
  • Where the dog lives and who the owner is.
