Family and
Community Support Services is a multi-municipal program
serving Leduc County, Calmar, Devon, New Sarepta, Thorsby and
Warburg. Leduc County is designated as the Unit
Authority responsible to the Provincial Government and the
participating municipalities to ensure the FCSS Act and
Regulations and the conditions of each municipality are
adhered to through the Family and Community Support Services
Advisory Committee.
PHILOSOPHY
People in communities and
families feel more worthwhile, are more able to generate
their own support systems, exhibit fewer symptoms of stress,
and are generally happier and healthier when they feel they
can and have the right to influence their environment and
control their destiny.
- People must take a
significant role in improving their quality of life and
prevention hinges on people becoming involved in resolving
the problems that affect them.
- Governments must be involved
and make a commitment to support (morally and financially);
however, it is the people who will solve the social
problems.
- People can sustain and
develop strong supportive community structures and gain a
sense of their own integrity, self-worth and interdependence
through a process of self-help.
