The Importance of Inspection and Proper
Maintenance
The installation of your treatment mound was
inspected by a Leduc County Safety Codes Officer at the time of
construction.
A permit must be obtained through Leduc County
for your installation.
Aside from improper installation, a lack of
maintenance is the leading cause for the failure of treatment mounds.
The information contained in this brochure can
save you expensive repairs.
How to Properly Maintain Your Treatment Mound
Follow
these simple steps
-
A grass cover
must be established over the entire area of the mound.
-
Shrubs must not
be planted on the top of the mound.
-
Keep the grass
cover weed free.
-
Keep people,
vehicles, animals and equipment off the area of the mound.
-
Have the tank
cleaned every 18 to 36 months.
Other
Considerations
-
Grass cover is needed to prevent
erosion and to assist in evaporating the effluent.
-
Before making any additions to
the plumbing system in the residence,
consideration must be given to the capacity and size of the treatment
mound.
-
Seasonal users may require
special maintenance.
