Taxation Installation Payment Plan
The Tax Installment Payment Plan allows Leduc County taxpayers to pay their property tax in monthly installments instead of one single payment.

Many people find it difficult to make a single large payment once a year. Monthly installments break your property tax into smaller amounts, which may make budgeting easier.

You can participate in this program if the following applies to you:

  • you have chequing privileges at a financial institution (bank, trust companies, treasury branch or credit union);
  • you do not currently pay your taxes through a mortgage company (P.I.T.)

You can start this program any time throughout the calendar year as long as all arrears are paid and the current year's levy (pro-rated portion) plus any assessed penalties are paid.

How does the tax installment payment plan work?

Your current tax levy will be divided by 12 to establish your monthly payments for January 1 to May 1.

Your monthly payment will be adjusted to June 1 to compensate for changes in taxes resulting from the annual tax levy. Your annual tax bill, usually issued in May, will show the total amount of installments to date and the calculation of the installment payments for the remaining
payments in that year.

Payments begin January 1 of the current year and continue each consecutive month. As long as payments are maintained, normal penalties will be waived.

Payments may only be made by automatic withdrawal from an account with chequing privileges at your chosen financial institution. You must provide written permission before any withdrawals may begin. Leduc County does not charge for this service; however, bank service charges may apply.

Withdrawing from the plan

You may withdraw from the plan by giving notice at least two weeks before your next payment date. If you withdraw or your plan is cancelled, all unpaid taxes become due and payable and are subject to penalties in accordance with the Penalties By-Law.

Missed Payments

If any payments are missed, Leduc County may cancel the agreement and request payment of the total outstanding taxes plus applicable penalties.

If you change your chequing account, please advise the taxation office at 955-3555 at least two weeks before the next payment is due.
