Leduc County council will vote on the LRFS initiative at its Tuesday, July 3 council meeting
At a special council meeting on June 28, City of Leduc Council voted to proceed with a Leduc Regional Fire Services initiative (LRFS).
Leduc County council will make its decision on whether to proceed with LRFS at its July 3 council meeting.
If implemented, the LRFS model would merge and transform the fire services of Leduc County and the City of Leduc into a new, single regional fire service.
In no way will this be an easy decision; it will be made based on extensive research and knowledge of our community. We have been researching this potential merger for two and a half years, and we have a deep understanding of the pros and cons of this initiative. Our decision will be based on what is best for our communities, our organization, our fire services team and most importantly, our residents.
Tanni Doblanko, Leduc County Mayor
The LRFS initiative began in early 2016, when Leduc County council and City of Leduc council directed their respective administrations to prepare an implementation plan for a single entity, regional fire services model.
Leduc County council’s decision will be shared after it is made on Tuesday, July 3.
