Leduc County Fire Services welcomes new fire chief

Fire Chief Keven Lefebvre has joined Leduc County Fire Services after the retirement of former Fire Chief Darrell Fleming.

I am proud to be taking on the role of Fire Chief at Leduc County Fire Services. Chief Fleming and the Fire Services team have accomplished a lot of great work and progress in Leduc County. I look forward to building on this momentum with them.

Lefebvre grew up in the Leduc region, where he spent his summers as a teen building roads and surveying in Nisku. He joined the Nisku Fire Department as a paid on-call firefighter in 1982, where he developed his love for emergency services while apprenticing as an electrician.

Once he joined City of Edmonton Fire Rescue Services as a full-time firefighter, Lefebvre then spent 31 years working his way up through the ranks to the level of deputy fire chief. Lefebvre also spent a year abroad as a firefighter in Australia, and was part of the rescue crew fighting the Fort McMurray wildfire in Wood Buffalo during the spring of 2016.

After serving as Fire Chief at the City of St. Albert, Lefebvre is happy to be back in Nisku, where his passion for firefighting began.

I play rugby, so as a sports analogy, this is like coming back as head coach of the team that gave you your first break – which is a team that will always be close to your heart.
