Winter photo contest winners announced

Leduc County is pleased to award two amateur photographers for their submissions for the winter edition of Leduc County’s Municipal Development Plan (MDP) update photo contest.

Leduc County resident Jeff Janisse received 320 votes from the public – the most of the seven photos submitted – for his photo “Beautiful Alberta country sunset.” In the youth category, Grade 8 student Kendra Nahajowich was awarded for her submission titled “Sunset on the horizon.”

“We are delighted by the submissions received in our second installment of the photo contest in support of the Municipal Development Plan update,” says Laurie Johnson, senior planner and MDP project manager. “We thank all participants for submitting their photos which capture the character of Leduc County.”

Janisse and Nahajowich will receive a Leduc County prize package, including a 16GB iPod touch, and their photos will be featured in future Leduc County publications.

Each season, the county is hosting an amateur photo contest to collect images that capture the character of Leduc County. The spring photo contest runs from March 1 to April 30, 2016. Show us your favourite scenes, vistas, events, activities or places in Leduc County for your chance to win a Leduc County prize.

The MDP is Leduc County's plan for the future. It is the roadmap for how the county will grow and develop over a 25- to 30-year period by guiding future land use and policy decisions. Leduc County is updating its MDP to ensure development is sustainable and provides a high quality of life for current and future residents. The project is now in its second phase.
