Estimating homelessness in rural areas
Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN) has released the first-ever guide to estimating rural homelessness in rural areas.
According to ARDN, in North America, only three counts of homelessness in rural areas have been published, two of which occurred in Canada. Rural service agencies rarely have the resources to collect adequate data, meaning rural homelessness often remains invisible and underserviced.
A new guide laying out best practices for estimating homelessness in rural areas will help change that.
