Highway 39 and Highway 60 roundabout: construction update

Construction of the roundabout at the intersection of Highway 39 and Highway 60 began in May.

Once complete, the roundabout will help reduce traffic speed and lessen the potential for head-on and high-speed collisions.

The contract for this provincially-funded project has been awarded to Wells Construction, Division of Lafarge Canada Inc.

The roundabout is in the early phases of construction, with surveying and utility adjustments taking place.

Throughout the coming weeks, the contractor will be mobilizing equipment to the site and beginning work.

The project includes the installation of temporary traffic signals and the construction of temporary detour roadways, encompassing Highway 39, Highway 60 and Range Road 263.

The detour and traffic signals will allow vehicles to flow safely through the intersection and construction zone with minimal delay, while construction of the roundabout is occurring. The detour and traffic signals will be removed when the roundabout becomes operational.

The estimated completion date for the roundabout is October 2019, weather permitting.
