Notice of council agenda item: cannabis-related Land Use Bylaw amendments

On July 28, Leduc County council held a public hearing to consider the proposed amendments to Leduc County Land Use Bylaw 07-08 and New Sarepta Land Use Bylaw No. 216, which seek to introduce and define a range of cannabis-related terms and uses, ranging from cannabis accessory and retail stores to production and distribution facilities. The amendments also propose to determine the appropriate districts (zoning) where cannabis use types can be considered as either permitted or discretionary uses and introduce regulations to ensure the development of these use types occur in accordance with provincial and federal requirements.

Council will further discuss and consider the proposed amendments on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 2 p.m. or soon thereafter, in Leduc County council chamber. The public hearing portion of the process has now been closed, however, anyone wishing to attend the council meeting and hear the discussions are welcome.

Copies of the proposed amending bylaws can be viewed here or inspected in the planning and development offices of County Centre between 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
