Notice of public hearing: amend cannabis definitions in Land Use Bylaw 07-08
Leduc County has received an application to amend sections of the Land Use Bylaw that relate to cannabis land uses. The purpose of the amendment is to:
1. create and define the following uses:
• Micro-cultivation Facility
• Micro-processing Facility
• Nursery Facility
• Cannabis and/or Hemp Testing Facility
• Cannabis and/or Hemp Research Facility;
2. include the proposed uses noted above as Discretionary Uses within the Agricultural District; and
3. include additional regulations within Part 7.25 – Cannabis and Cannabis Related Uses for the provision of the following:
a) To allow for a Micro-cultivation Facility and/or Micro-processing Facility and/or Nursery Facility to overlap in a designated area;
b) to allow for hemp for the purpose of CBD extraction to be grown outdoors in agricultural areas; and
c) to allow for growers of medical cannabis to distribute product via mail and/or courier services.
A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as possible. The public hearing will be held in the council chamber of County Centre, at which time written and oral submissions can be presented to council. Submissions may be made by any person whom council agrees to hear.
Any written submissions emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to Leduc County, 101-1101 5 Street, Nisku, AB, T9E 2X3 or faxed to 780-955-8866 by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019, will be included on the council agenda. Written and oral submissions may be made at the council meeting without prior notification to Leduc County.

Copies of the proposed amendment (LA19-002) and any supporting information may be inspected at the Planning and Development offices in County Centre between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, or on our website here.
