Notice of public hearing: amend cannabis definitions in Land Use Bylaw 07-08

The purpose of the proposed bylaw is to amend how the Leduc County Land Use Bylaw regulates cannabis production. At present, the cultivating and processing of cannabis is restricted to defined
business and industrial areas of Leduc County only.

The proposed amendment considers allowing the land use Cannabis Production Facility as a discretionary use within the Agricultural District of the Land Use Bylaw. The amendment also
considers allowing the outdoor growth of industrial hemp, grown for the purpose of cannabidiol (CBD) extraction, as an agricultural process.

A public hearing concerning the proposed amendment will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 2 p.m. or as soon thereafter as possible, in the council chamber of County Centre, at which time written and oral submissions can be presented to council. Submissions may be made by any person whom council agrees to hear.

Any written submissions emailed to development@leduc-county.com or mailed to Leduc County, 101-1101 5 Street, Nisku, AB, T9E 2X3 or faxed to 780-955-8866 by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019, will be included on the council agenda. Written and oral submissions may be made at the council meeting without prior notification to Leduc County.

Copies of the proposed amendment and any supporting information may be inspected at the Planning and Development offices in County Centre between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, or on the Leduc County website here.
