Notice of public hearing: proposed bylaw to amend the Land Use Bylaw 07-08 and New Sarepta Land Use Bylaw 216
The purpose of the proposed bylaw is to amend Leduc County Land Use Bylaw 07-08 and New Sarepta Land Use Bylaw 216 in order to respond to the development challenges of the proposed legalization of cannabis across Canada.
The proposed amendments seek to introduce and define a range of cannabis related terms and uses, ranging from cannabis accessory and retail stores to production and distribution facilities. The amendments will also determine the appropriate districts (zoning) where cannabis use types can be considered as either permitted or discretionary uses and introduce regulations where applicable, to ensure the development of these use types occur in accordance with provincial and federal requirements.
Details of the proposed amendments can be viewed online or at Leduc County’s Planning and Development offices in County Centre (1101 5 Street, Nisku) between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and
12 p.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
A public hearing concerning the proposed amendments will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. or soon thereafter as possible, in council chamber at County Centre, at which time written and oral submissions can be presented to council. Submissions may be made by any person(s) who claim to be affected by the proposed amendment or from any other person whom council agrees to hear.
Any written submissions that are mailed, emailed or delivered to Leduc County, 101-1101 5 Street, Nisku, AB T9E 2X3 or faxed to 780-955-8866 by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 will be included on the council agenda. Written and oral submissions may be made at the council meeting, without prior notification to Leduc County.
