Now recruiting paid on-call firefighters
Leduc County Fire Services is now recruiting paid on-call firefighters in the Calmar, New Sarepta, Nisku and Thorsby fire districts.
Applications for this round of recruitment are being accepted until Jan. 10.
Paid on-call firefighters protect citizens and property in a time of crisis, and get paid for it.
They provide fire and rescue services throughout Leduc County and in neighbouring communities. These emergency calls include, but are not limited to, residential, rural and industrial fire calls, vehicle collisions, and airport response.
Paid on-call firefighters receive professional-level National Fire Protection Association training at no personal financial cost and gain valuable hands-on experience through training scenarios and emergency calls. In addition to responding to emergency calls, firefighters must attend weekly training sessions and additional courses on most weekends for the first year and then as required, to maintain their skills.
Compensation is provided on an hourly basis for attending weekly training (at least three-hours pay each session) and responding to emergency calls (at least two-hours pay each emergency call).
