Leduc County is in the process of creating an area structure plan that will guide current and future growth and development in the Nisku area.
The goals and objectives of Leduc County's new Municipal Development Plan (MDP) warranted a high-level comprehensive review of the plans and policies for the Nisku Area, an area near the centre of Leduc County, south of the City of Edmonton, north of the City of Leduc and west of the City of Beaumont. The area is intended for concentrated high-density, fully-serviced development.
While this area is not the only area to contain industrial, commercial, agricultural and residential land, it is significant to Leduc County as it is the only Major Employment Area and Urban Centre within the county (as defined by the MDP). For this reason, an area structure plan is being drafted.
The Nisku Major Employment Centre Area Structure Plan needs to comply with Leduc County’s Municipal Development Plan (2019) and the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Growth Plan (2017).
This plan was previously titled as the Greater Nisku Major Area Structure Plan. The name of the project has been changed as a result of the decision to remove the East Nisku area from the overall plan area, and to better align with the terms as defined in the MDP.
Over the six week consultation period, we received input from Leduc County residents to help define the goals and direction of the ASP. The report linked below details the feedback received, which is currently under consideration as the plan is drafted. Thank you to everyone who participated - your feedback is appreciated.
