The following staff members were introduced to Council:
Leduc County, in partnership with Leger – the largest Canadian-owned market research and analytics company – conducted its second-ever Citizen Satisfaction Survey in spring 2023. The survey was open from May 26 to July 4, and we heard from 512 households.
Survey results were presented to Council. Administration recommended Council receive the result as information.
Council approved the recommendation.
On Sept. 14, 2021, a public hearing was held for the closure and sale of a portion of undeveloped road allowance on Range Road 32, east of SE 10-51-3-W5 and NE 3-51-3-W5, to be consolidated with the adjacent parcel owned by the applicant. Leduc County Council provided first reading of the road allowance closure bylaw after the public hearing adjourned.
As per Section 22 of the Municipal Government Act, Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors must approve the bylaw prior to second reading. Administration submitted the road allowance closure bylaw package to Alberta Transportation on Nov. 21, 2021, and received final approval on July 11, 2023.
Administration recommended that Council provide second and third reading to the bylaw, as amended.
Council approved the recommendation.
On Oct. 7, the Thorsby and District Cultural and Historical Society is hosting an Oktoberfest event to fundraise for upgrades to their kitchen.
On July 7, Leduc County received a funding request from the society to help sponsor the event.
The Leduc County Sponsorship and Grants committee reviewed the funding request and recommended a sponsorship of $2,000 to support the event.
Administration recommended Council approve a sponsorship of $2,000 to the Thorsby and District Cultural and Historical Society for their kitchen upgrade.
Council approved the recommendation.
On Nov. 18, the Warburg Curling Club is hosting a 70th anniversary celebration.
Leduc County received a sponsorship request from the club to help sponsor the event.
The Leduc County Sponsorship and Grants committee reviewed the sponsorship request and recommended a sponsorship of $2,000 to support the event.
Administration recommended Council approve a sponsorship of $2,000 to the Warburg Curling Club for its 70th anniversary celebration.
Council approved the recommendation.
The Leduc County 2022-2025 Strategic Plan identified a revised Recreation and Parks Master Plan as a priority strategy.
This project was initiated in spring 2023 with the support of the consulting firm RC Strategies. With their support, a project plan was developed that included research and understanding of existing services, a public engagement plan and extensive efforts to engage with Leduc County’s partners and organizations.
Administration presented the 2023 Recreation and Parks Master Plan to Council and recommended that Council adopt the plan.
Council approved the recommendation.
Council met in-camera in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act to discuss the following:
Council authorized administration to enter into a final land agreement for the purchase of +16 acres of land located at Roll 6602500, subject to final approval.
Council approved the disposal of Plan 4629, Block BG, Lot A, Roll 6600007 (5006 Centre Ave.) for fair market value of $60,000 by means of private party negotiated sale to 2275575 Alberta Ltd; the proceeds of which shall be allocated to Capital asset lifecycle management – land management reserve.
