On Monday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., division 3 residents will vote for a Leduc County councillor in a municipal by-election.

Advance voting: Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The division 3 by-election date is Monday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Leduc County is divided into seven electoral divisions. On by-election day, voters in division 3 will elect a councillor to serve the remainder of the current Council term (Oct. 2021 to Oct. 2025). On by-election day, division 3 residents* may vote at any of the voting stations specified below. Leduc County division 3 residents are eligible to vote if they:
Leduc County does not prepare a voter list. You must complete a declaration at the voting station that confirms you are eligible to vote. Rules of residenceAs per section 48 of the Local Authorities Election Act, you can only vote in one jurisdiction, even if you have more than one residence. A student who attends an educational institution within or outside of Alberta, temporarily rents accommodation for the purpose of attending an educational institution, and has family members who reside in Alberta and with whom the student ordinarily lives with when not attending an educational institution is deemed to reside with those family members. They would vote where those family members would vote. |

Changes to electoral boundaries |
Leduc County is divided into seven electoral divisions. In fall 2019, Council updated electoral boundaries to more evenly distribute the population and land area across the County. This resulted in changes to divisions one, two and three*. View a printable electoral division map to see which division you live in. Note: these boundary changes only impact Leduc County municipal elections; different boundaries are used in each the provincial and federal elections, as well as school board elections. *Please note, only residents who live in division 3 can vote during the by-election. |
What to bring with you to vote |
As per section 53 of the Local Authorities Election Act, voters must provide proof of identity and current residence in order to vote. Leduc County's Voter Identification Bylaw [Bylaw 5-13] states that voters must produce, for inspection by a deputy returning officer of the voting station, the following:
If the deputy returning officer is not satisfied that the identification verifies the identity and age of the person seeking to vote, they make the final decision as to whether or not the person is allowed to vote. A person who does not meet the requirements of section 53(1) of the Local Authorities Election Act and section 2 of this bylaw is not eligible to vote. |
