Leduc County offers a variety of services, programs and support to adults and seniors, including:
- assistance applying for government benefits and subsidies
- information and referrals to other community and government services
- advocacy and coordination of services
- assistance with goal setting and future planning
We provide short-term support for individuals and families to help you cope and be resilient. We offer skill-building sessions on a variety of topics, such as:

Housekeeping subsidy
|
We are committed to supporting people to maintain their independence and quality of life as they age. We offer a subsidy to help seniors and adults with disabilities access housekeeping services. To apply for our housekeeping subsidy, contact us by email or give us a call at 780-955-4554. The amount of the subsidy is based on household income and your eligibility for other subsidies.
Eligibility |
To be eligible for the housekeeping subsidy, you must:
- Be you a senior (65+) or an adult with a disability or inability to complete household tasks.
- Meet specified income thresholds. Income thresholds may change annually each July to reflect changes to the Seniors Financial Assistance programs provided by the Government of Alberta.
- Be a resident of Leduc County (including New Sarepta), Calmar, Thorsby or Warburg.
- Housekeeping fees are determined based on family income level and eligibility to other subsidies.

Housekeeping services |
All housekeeping services are provided by:
Serving Hands Senior Care Inc. (serving residents in Leduc County, including New Sarepta, Calmar, Thorsby and Warburg)
Kindred Care Home Services Ltd. (serving residents in the Thorsby and Warburg area)
Through the subsidy, you can receive up to four hours of light housekeeping each month.
Services can include:
- wiping kitchen counters, fridge, stove and microwave
- washing dishes and unloading the dishwasher
- spot cleaning walls
- cleaning bathroom sinks, tubs and toilets
- vacuuming, sweeping and mopping floors
- dusting, polishing and general tidying
- doing laundry

Seniors Assisted Transportation Subsidy |
The cost of transportation can be a barrier for many rural seniors. Leduc County provides a subsidy to eligible older adults (65+) who need transportation for medical appointments. Leduc County believes rural residents should have the resources to age in place and will support older adults access to needed services.
Transportations services are provided by Volunteers of Drive Happiness.
Eligibility
|
Applicants must meet three criteria to be eligible for subsidy:
- Age
At least 65 years of age
- Residency
Resident of Leduc County, Town of Calmar, Town of Thorsby, or Village of Warburg
- Mobility
Applicants need to be sufficiently mobile such that they can enter and exit vehicles on their own

Number of rides
|
- Seniors 65 years to 79 years:
Eligible for five FREE round trips per year, approved by Leduc County, for medical appointments. Medical appointments may include doctor, dentist, specialist appointments, medical testing and/or treatment.
- Seniors 80 years and older:
Eligible for 10 FREE round trips per year, approved by Leduc County, for medical, recreational, social or supportive needs. Supportive needs may include groceries, banking or related business needs.

Memberships
|
All program participants are required to purchase a Drive Happiness annual membership. Membership fees are determined by Drive Happiness and are based on household income.

Drive Happiness is unable to provide last minute or emergency rides. Please book rides in advance with as much notice as possible.
