Flammable and combustible tanks

Leduc County Fire Services is accredited and the authority for the installation, removal or alteration of all flammable and combustible liquid storage tanks within Leduc County.

Learn more about tank storage in Division B, Part 4 of the National Fire Code - 2023 (Alberta Edition).

New tank installation and registration

All new tanks 230 litres and greater must be registered* with and inspected by a Leduc County Safety Codes Officer. Depending on the size of your tank, you must take the following steps:

For tanks 2,500 litres and greater
  1. Complete a permit application to install, remove or alter a storage tank system.
  2. Submit your application by email to Leduc County Fire Services at fireservices@leduc-county.com.
  3. Once your application is reviewed, Leduc County Fire Services will contact you to schedule an inspection.
  4. After the inspection has determined that the tank installation meets compliance with the National Fire Code - 2023 (Alberta Edition), a permit services report (PSR) will be issued.

Please note, all tanks 2,500 litres and greater require an annual operating permit certificate. This certificate must be on-site and available upon request of a Safety Codes Officer.

For tanks 230 to 2,499 litres
  1. Complete a Small Storage Tank Systems - Flammable & Combustible Liquids application form.
  2. Submit your application by email to Leduc County Fire Services at fireservices@leduc-county.com.
  3. Once your application is reviewed, Leduc County Fire Services will contact you to schedule an inspection.

*Please review the fees and charges bylaw for permitting fees.
