Policing

Always call 9-1-1 in an emergency.

Report an enforcement concern

Peace officers

Peace officers enforce the following:

  • municipal bylaws, such as the Traffic bylaw, Animal Control bylaw and Consumption of Cannabis in Public Places bylaw
  • provincial legislation, such as the Traffic Safety Act, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act and Trespass to Premises Act

Additional services include:

  • investigating incoming complaints from community members
  • proactively patrolling residential, industrial and recreational areas
  • providing dog control services
  • promoting traffic safety, including through commercial vehicle inspections
  • supporting crime prevention through community outreach and partnerships with local crime watch groups
  • providing support for other emergency agencies

Leduc County's Community Peace Officer Performance Plan identifies the areas peace officers will focus on this year.

Our peace officers cannot respond to incidents that involve dangerous weapons, including firearms. Firearms-related questions must be directed to either the RCMP or Alberta Fish and Wildlife, depending on the circumstances.

  • you have lost or someone has stolen something that costs less than $5,000
  • someone has vandalized your property or vehicle and it will cost less than $5,000 to repair it
  • the crime happened in Alberta

You cannot report a crime online if there is a witness or suspect, there are lost or stolen items involving personal identity or firearms, or there are lost or stolen licence plates or decals. To report these crimes, call the RCMP using the numbers listed above.

Crime map

RCMP detachments track reported crimes through an interactive crime map. The points on the map are not placed at the exact location of the crime; they are placed at nearby intersections or regions for privacy.
