Cold smoke building |
The cold smoke building is used for search-and-rescue training with cold smoke to prepare firefighters for training in live-fire situations. This is a three-storey, wood-framed structure that simulates a normal residential structure with areas of restricted passage. The first and second floors are set up as a single-family home with a living room and kitchen on the main floor and four bedrooms on the second floor. The third floor of this structure has a multi-level confined space area with a simulated roof collapse and false floor. A wire entanglement and a Denver-drill training prop are also located on the third floor. |
Liquefied petroleum gas training structure |
The liquefied petroleum gas training structure is designed to simulate what firefighters could potentially encounter when dealing with pressurized gases. The two-level structure contains a gas riser pipe, upper and lower flanges and a compressor motor fire prop. The training objectives are to control and contain fires through the use of hose and nozzle manipulation techniques. |
Live fire structure |
The objective of the live fire structure is to extinguish live-fire scenarios and teach firefighters proper tactical techniques of rescue, attack, ventilation and safety. This prop enhances the tactical skills of various teams through the application of strong leadership and command techniques. This structure is also designed to accommodate confined space and rope rescues from the working platform at the top of the building. |
Sprinkler and stand pipe building |
The sprinkler and stand pipe building is designed to simulate the activation of a variety of fused sprinkler heads. |
Vehicle and machinery extrication |
This training facility allows firefighters to train in vehicle and machinery extraction. You will learn how to safely remove someone from a vehicle or other machine during an emergency simulation. We train on approximately 40-to-50 different vehicles each year. |
