Waste transfer stations

As a Leduc County resident, you can dispose of household waste, yard waste and recycling at any Leduc County transfer station. Transfer stations are not intended for institutional, commercial, industrial or agricultural use.

Looma

Looma Transfer Station is located at 23058 Township Road 505A.

Hours of operation

The Looma Transfer Station is open Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mission Beach

Mission Beach Transfer Station is located at 1453 Highway 616.

Hours of operation

The Mission Beach Transfer Station is open Wednesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

New Sarepta

New Sarepta Transfer Station is located at 22241 Township Road 500.

Hours of operation

The New Sarepta Transfer Station is open Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rolly View

Rolly View Transfer Station is located at 49342 Range Road 232.

Hours of operation

The Rolly View Transfer Station is open Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunnybrook

Sunnybrook Transfer Station is located at 49164 Range Road 22.

Hours of operation

The Sunnybrook Transfer Station is open Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Thorsby

Thorsby Transfer Station is located at 28178 Township Road 494.

Hours of operation

The Thorsby Transfer Station is open Thursday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Warburg

Warburg Transfer Station is located at 48502 Range Road 32.

Hours of operation

The Warburg Transfer Station is open Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Wizard Lake

Wizard Lake Transfer Station is located 27139 Township Road 481.

Hours of operation

The Wizard Lake Transfer Station is open Wednesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Leduc Eco Station

Leduc Eco Station is located 6102 46 Street, Leduc.

For hours of operation and services available, please visit their website.

Due to the partnership between the County and the City of Leduc, Leduc County residents can access the Leduc Eco Station.

Transfer station access cards

Transfer station access cards must be presented to gain access to a Leduc County transfer station. Free cards are mailed every two years; the cards currently in circulation will be in use until Aug. 31, 2026. You only need to apply for an access card if you are a new resident or need a replacement or additional card.

Apply for an access card

Transfer station access cards are only provided to property owners living in Leduc County. Complete the transfer station access card application form and submit it by email or drop it off to:

You will need to provide one of the following documents with your application:

  • government-issued photo identification
  • property assessment or tax notice
  • certified copies of property purchase documents

You will need to pay a fee for a replacement or additional access card. Review the public works section of the Fees and Charges bylaw to find the appropriate fee. We accept cash, cheque or debit payments in-person at County Centre during regular business hours.

Please make all cheques payable to Leduc County.

Temporary access card for summer village residents

Summer village residents can purchase a one-time use access card for the Sunnybrook transfer station. Single-use cards cost $20. For more information, please call 780-979-6185.

Disposal rules

Transfer station access policy
The Leduc County Transfer Station Access Policy outlines permissible access requirements to Leduc County solid waste transfer stations.
Items we accept at transfer stations

Our transfer stations accept household waste, yard waste and recycling. Transfer stations are not intended for institutional, commercial, industrial or agricultural use.

Blue bags are accepted at all Leduc County transfer stations; the blue bag program accepts the following materials:

  • tin cans and lids metal (such as aluminum cans, empty and non-hazardous aerosol cans, etc.)
  • rigid plastic (such as margarine tubs and yogurt containers, soap bottles, etc.)
  • paper (such as newsprint, inserts, flyers, envelopes, , paper bags, magazines and books, etc.)
  • flattened cardboard (such as shoe boxes, packing boxes, etc.)
  • non-glass beverage containers (such as drink cans, milk cartons, Tetra® Pak containers, etc.)
 Additional items accepted at New Sarepta and Sunnybrook transfer stations

In addition to household waste, yard waste and recycling, the Sunnybrook and New Sarepta transfer station also accept the following:

  • electronics (TVs, computers, small appliances, batteries, etc.)
  • household Hazardous Waste (such as 20lbs propane tanks, used oil and oil containers, paint, etc.)
  • white, enameled metals, such as appliances
  • scrap metal (excludes vehicles hulks, parts, engines)
  • tires (without rims)
  • agricultural twine

Recycling used baler twine

Leduc County is participating in a Cleanfarms and Alberta Ag-Plastic. Recycle It! pilot program aimed at recycling twine.

To participate in the program, residents can pick up free twine collection bags from any Leduc County transfer station. Afterwards, prepare twine for recycling by following the steps below:

  1. Shake the twine to remove debris, snow or ice.
  2. Place the loose twine in a collection bag. Please note the recycling program is for plastic twine only. Bags of twine mixed with netting, sisal twine or other materials will be rejected.
  3. Return full bags to the New Sarepta or Sunnybrook transfer stations.

Twine recycling fact sheet


Electronics recycling

Leduc County is participating in the Government of Alberta’s two-year Expanded Electronics Recycling Pilot Program, which allows Albertans to recycle an expanded list of electronic materials.

Leduc County will participate in the expanded program at our New Sarepta and Sunnybrook transfer stations. The following electronic items are accepted at these transfer stations:

  • computers and servers
  • laptop, notebook and tablet computers
  • visual display devices, such as TVs, monitors and all-in-one computers
  • printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines
  • small home appliances
  • audio and video equipment
  • cell phones and other wireless devices
  • gaming equipment
  • toys
  • musical instruments
  • power tools
  • solar panels
  • batteries (such as car batteries, rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries, cell phones and cell phone batteries)
    • batteries must be sorted into the following categories:
      1. alkaline batteries (most common household batteries, will have the word alkaline on the label)
      2. hearing aid batteries
      3. lead-acid batteries (such as car batteries, UPS batteries)
      4. nickel-based batteries (Ni-Cd, NiMH, Ni-Zn; commonly will be rechargeable batteries)
      5. lithium, lithium-ion batteries

Additional items accepted at Nisku Concrete Reclamation Site

Concrete, asphalt and gravel is accepted at the Nisku Concrete Reclamation Site, located at the corner of 5 St. and 15 Ave. in Nisku. This is available by appointment only; please contact 780-955- 2469 ext. 5 to book an appointment.

These materials are also accepted at the Leduc and District regional Waste Management Facility.

Items we DO NOT accept at transfer stations

The following items are prohibited at all transfer stations:

  • dead animals
  • asphalt shingles
  • railways ties
Load size limits
Your load can't be more than a typical eight-foot pickup truck box filled to a depth no greater than 3 ft. You can deposit a total volume of 2.7 cubic metres of waste per visit to a transfer station. Larger loads will be redirected to the Leduc and District Regional Waste Management Facility. County residents have a disposal cap of 3 tonnes at this facility.
