Everyone has a role to play in an emergency. Emergency Preparedness Week is an opportunity for you to take action to ensure you are prepared to protect yourself, your family and your community during an emergency. This year, the theme is Be Prepared. Know Your Risks. The intent of the theme is to encourage Canadians to understand the risks in their area and learn what actions they can take to protect themselves and their families.
May 4, 2023: The pancake breakfast scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 6 at the Calmar District Fire Station has been cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
This year, participate in the Government of Canada's social media challenge to win an emergency kit.
Simply tell us how you're helping to make you and your family better prepared to cope during an emergency, and use the hashtag #ReadyforAnything. It can be as simple as making an emergency kit with items found around your home, creating a family emergency plan, or becoming more informed about the hazards in your area. Get creative and post those messages, photos, or videos! Don't forget to use the hashtag #EPWeek2023.
More info on rules and regulations are available.
Emergency Preparedness Week is held annually during the first full week of May and is coordinated by Public Safety Canada and other levels of government.
