Leduc RCMP are #FreezinForAReason in their third annual Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics athletes in the Leduc community.
The Polar Plunge annual events have moved to a virtual event again this year and Leduc RCMP decided to get creative in support of Special Olympics Alberta. On Jan. 22 Leduc RCMP Team Copsicles achieved their initial fundraising goal of $250 and team captain, Const. Cheri-Lee Smith along with Const. Hannah Willoughby did a snow angel as a show of appreciation to supporters.
On. Feb. 10 at 5 p.m., to continue their fundraising efforts, Smith will again be #FreezinForAReason with Leduc County Fire Services' Fire Chief Keven Lefebvre where they will be going for a bone-chilling dip in a 4,000 L portable water tank.
The final Polar Plunge will be done by members of team Copsicles on March 5 in partnership with City of Leduc Fire Services where they will chill-out while being sprayed by a fire hose.
“T’is the season to be freezin' and we are looking forward to the opportunity to raise awareness and donations in support of Special Olympic athletes,” says Smith.
