Leduc Transit celebrates one million rides

On Sept. 13, Leduc Transit will celebrate completing its one millionth ride, a major milestone since the service first launched in November 2010.

To mark the occasion, everyone gets to ride for free on Sept. 13.

Over the years, the partnership between the City of Leduc and Leduc County has grown from offering service between Leduc and Edmonton to connecting Leduc, Nisku, Edmonton International Airport (YEG), and Edmonton seven days a week.

“Leduc Transit Service is a vital service for our residents, it helps travellers reach their destinations safely on time, every day,” said Leduc Mayor Bob Young. “As we celebrate our one-millionth ride, it's important to recognize the hard work of our transit operators who have driven countless kilometres in and around our community.”

“Being able to provide residents and commuters with transit options in our region has had a positive impact in the County,” says Tanni Doblanko, Mayor of Leduc County. “Public transit has enabled businesses to grow and has brought new employees and visitors to the region, which has helped diversify and grow the local economy. Congratulations to Leduc Transit on its one-millionth ride! We are proud to be part of this vital service.”

Leduc Transit through the years:

  • Nov. 1, 2010: First service of C-Line
  • September 2014: C-Line is rebranded as Leduc Transit. One commuter route and three local routes.
  • 2019: Leduc Transit exceeded 100,000 trips
  • April 2017: Route 1 extended to stop in Nisku and Royal Oaks subdivision
  • 2021: Local busses implemented an on-demand service model
  • December 2022: On-demand app data showed Leduc’s ridership increased by 252 per cent
  • February 2024: On-demand services expanded by increasing weekday service hours and spots to book
  • August 2024: Leduc Transit Services received funding from the Government of Alberta to provide subsidized transit passes to eligible riders. To date, 127 residents have been approved for the monthly subsidized transit pass.
  • Sept. 13, 2024: Leduc Transit Services celebrates one million riders
