The Leduc County/County of Wetaskiwin Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) was prepared to comply with the Municipal Government Act (MGA). Section 631(2) of the MGA no longer requires municipalities that have common boundaries and are not members of a Growth Management Board to adopt an IDP with each other if they agree that they don’t require one. Leduc County and the County of Wetaskiwin agree that the Municipal Development Plans of the respective municipalities will fulfill the core functions and benefits of an IDP and therefore are proposing to repeal the Leduc County/County of Wetaskiwin IDP.
To streamline processes, Leduc County and the County of Wetaskiwin are also proposing to repeal the Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF) and approve an updated ICF by resolution. The MGA requires municipalities that have common boundaries to create an ICF with each other, but allows municipalities party to the ICF to each adopt a bylaw or resolution that contains the ICF.
