The Municipal Government Act (MGA) requires municipalities that share a common boundary to prepare and adopt matching Intermunicipal Development Plans (IDPs) and to establish Intermunicipal Collaboration Frameworks (ICFs).
In 2019, Leduc County and the Village of Warburg worked collaboratively with input from the community to prepare an IDP and an ICF. Policies in the IDP and ICF require that these documents be reviewed every 4 years to ensure that the principles, policies, and intermunicipal service delivery remain current. In keeping with this requirement, Councils for Leduc County and the Village of Warburg have reviewed the IDP and ICF. Minor revisions, primarily housekeeping in nature, are proposed to both the IDP and the ICF. As the MGA now allows municipalities party to an ICF to each approve the ICF by resolution, Leduc County and the Village of Warburg are proposing to repeal the ICF and approve the updated ICF by resolution to streamline processes.
