Public input needed to help shape RCMP policing priorities

Local RCMP detachments are looking for public input to help set policing priorities for the year ahead.

Each year, RCMP from the Leduc and Thorsby/Breton detachments are tasked with establishing policing priorities to ensure that, in addition to responding to calls for service, members focus on the issues the public thinks is most important.

Residents in the Leduc County area -- including the City of Leduc, towns of Calmar and Thorsby, and Village of Warburg -- are encouraged to share their top three policing priorities in a three-minute online survey. 

This feedback provides our members with a true understanding of the areas our citizens are most concerned about, so we can best direct our resources and build safer communities.

Local policing priorities will be determined based on the feedback the RCMP receives from the communities it serves.

What works in one location might not work in the neighbouring town. Every community has different needs and this survey allows us to adapt our approach to the unique needs of the communities we serve.

This survey has been conducted annually since 2015 and feedback has influenced policing priorities. The survey is open from Feb. 1 to 28 and can be accessed at surveymonkey.com/RCMP2019; print copies are available at the Leduc and Thorsby/Breton RCMP stations.

The City of Leduc and Leduc County have partnered with the RCMP to conduct this brief survey to ensure that policing priorities align with those of the public.
