Are you a farmer, rancher, or landowner? Do you work in or support the agriculture sector?
The Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board (EMRB) is currently developing a critical piece of our region’s 2044 Growth Plan, and they need your input. This important body of work, called the Regional Agriculture Master Plan (RAMP), will help Leduc County, as well as the other 12 counties, towns and cities, effectively plan for the future or agriculture and the agriculture sector in the region.
Agriculture has important historical, cultural and economic roots in this region, and is foundational to our future success. The RAMP is intended to provide policy direction to help manage land use for the future of the agriculture sector, ensure food security, attract investment and talent, create jobs, and build on our history to create even more economic potential with the growth of the agri-foods industry.
Stakeholder engagement
The EMRB is undertaking a stakeholder engagement process to hear perspectives and insights for the development of land-use policies in the RAMP. Your input will help us understand what kinds of opportunities and challenges are facing the agriculture sector. And it will help us align with and contribute to provincial plans for investment in agri-foods and other similar initiatives.
Who do we need to hear from?
As an important stakeholder and contributor to the agriculture and agri-foods sector, we are interested in your feedback. We are inviting a broad range of regional stakeholders to gather different perspectives, including farmers, ranchers, landowners, small business owners, government, agriculture and food organizations, land developers, research institutions and many more.
How do stakeholders participate?
Stakeholders can provide their input in three ways: virtual or in-person engagement sessions, and as written submissions.
There are a variety of dates and times for the engagement sessions, which will happen across the region throughout the month of November. Leduc County residents and business owners can register for one of the south sub-regional sessions scheduled. If those session dates don’t work for you, please register for one of the regional sessions.
For a detailed list of sessions or to register, please visit the RAMP website or call 780-638-6000.
