Agricultural Service Board

The Agricultural Service Board (ASB) applies sections of the Agricultural Service Board Act and works in an advisory capacity to council in accordance with the Weed Control Act, Agricultural Pests Act, Soil Conservation Act, Water Act and Animal Health Act. It also promotes the sound management of draining on agricultural lands.

Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Advisory Committee

The Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Advisory Committee oversees the development and operation of the FCSS program, acts in an advisory capacity to council and to the FCSS director, makes recommendations to council regarding the direction of the program and ensures the FCSS Act and regulations are adhered to.

Leduc County Library Board

The Leduc County Library Board manages regulates and controls municipal library services to ensure quality library services are available to all county residents. The board has entered into agreements with and provides funding support to six libraries in the region, including the Beaumont, Leduc, Devon, Calmar, Thorsby and Warburg libraries. The board also supports operations of the New Sarepta Library in serving the residents of the New Sarepta library district.

Established under the Municipal Government Act, the Subdivision Authority is responsible for making decisions on subdivision applications after considering the suitability of lands for which the subdivision is proposed, the subdivision's conformance to statutory plans and development standards and compliance with provincial subdivision and development regulations.

Vehicle Axle Weight Committee

The Vehicle Axle Weight Committee sets maximum allowable weights permitted on local roads within Leduc County. Weight restrictions and road bans are placed on Leduc County roadways to restrict the weight of commercial vehicles and goods being carried by commercial vehicles, to protect the roadway infrastructure.

Alberta Capital Region Wastewater Commission – Board

The Alberta Capital Region Wastewater Commission is responsible for providing wastewater transmission and treatment services to municipalities in the Edmonton metropolitan region.

The board is responsible for considering issues and making decisions that are in the best interests of the collective commission with respect to wastewater issues. The board is comprised of an elected representative from each member municipality, including Leduc County, Parkland County, Strathcona County, Sturgeon County, the cities of Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc, Spruce Grove and St. Albert, and the towns of Beaumont, Bon Accord, Gibbons, Morinville and Stony Plain.

Alberta Hemp Alliance – Steering Committee

The Alberta Hemp Alliance works to support the development of the Alberta hemp industry value chain.

The steering committee is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the alliance, and advocating for, educating about and raising awareness of the hemp industry in Alberta. The committee is comprised of an elected representative from each member municipality, including Leduc County, Wetaskiwin County, the towns of Calmar, Devon, Drayton Valley and Thorsby, and the villages of Breton and Warburg.

Alliance of Pigeon Lake Municipalities – Board

The Alliance of Pigeon Lake Municipalities is an informal, unincorporated group of municipalities that have agreed to work together for the betterment of Pigeon Lake and its greater community.

The board is responsible for working together to create and implement strategies that support the vision of Pigeon Lake as a safe, healthy and vibrant recreational community that offers residents and visitors a great place to live and play. The board is comprised of an elected representative from each member municipality, including Leduc County and the summer villages of Argentia, Crystal Springs, Golden Days, Grandview, Itaska, MaMeO Beach, Norris Beach, Poplar Bay, Silver Beach and Sundance.

Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS) Canada – Partnership Advisory Committee

ALUS Canada is a national charitable organization that invests in farmers and ranchers who are stewards of Canada’s working landscape. Leduc County and the County of Wetaskiwin partner with ALUS Canada to run a joint ALUS program.

The Partnership Advisory Committee is responsible for guiding the ALUS program in Leduc County and Wetaskiwin County. It reviews and decides potential agricultural producer/landowner projects, establishes payment structure and amounts for each approved project and monitors the success of the program. The committee is comprised of an elected representative from each Leduc County and Wetaskiwin County, area producers and other stakeholders.

The Beaumont Chamber of Commerce advocates for and serves businesses in the Town of Beaumont and works to improve business competitiveness across all sectors.

The board is comprised of business and government representatives, including from Leduc County. Leduc County is a non-voting liaison on the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors.

Beaumont/Leduc County Facilities Project Steering Committee – Committee

The Beaumont/Leduc County Facilities Project Steering Committee was established to advise both councils on the expansion of the Aqua-Fit Centre in Beaumont.

The committee is responsible for ensuring the stakeholders in the community as well as both councils are represented. The committee is comprised of two elected representatives from each Leduc County and the Town of Beaumont.

Beaver Hills Initiative – Board

The Beaver Hills Initiative includes more than 20 member organizations, including Leduc County, which work together to share and develop tools and knowledge to balance sustainable economic and human development with environmental conservation.

The board is responsible for ensuring the Beaver Hills Initiative is guided by its vision and mission. The board is comprised of representatives from local, regional and national governments, and public and community interest groups.

Capital Region Southwest Water Services Commission – Board

The Capital Region Southwest Water Services Commission is a regional services commission that purchases clean, safe drinking water from EPCOR and provides it to its customers, including those in Leduc County.

The board is responsible for governing the commission, including setting fees charged to each member municipality, and transmitting water to customers. The board is comprised of two elected representative from each member municipality, including Leduc County, Camrose County, the City of Leduc, the towns of Beaumont, Calmar and Millet, and the Village of Hay Lakes.

Edmonton International Airport Noise Advisory Committee – Board

The Edmonton International Airport (EIA) Noise Advisory Committee functions as a forum for information exchange between the airport and local communities, and as an education vehicle on airport operations and aircraft noise.

The committee reviews noise concerns and determines when a noise abatement procedure should be recommended. The committee is comprised of representatives from Leduc County, the cities of Edmonton and Leduc, the towns of Beaumont and Devon, Transport Canada, Edmonton Airports and airlines.

Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board (EMRB) – Board

The Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board (EMRB) is a regional growth management board that is mandated by the province to implement the region's 30-year growth plan and create a regional metro servicing plan.

The board is comprised of an elected representative from each member municipality with a population of 5,000 or more, including Leduc County, Parkland County, Strathcona County, Sturgeon County, the cities of Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc, Spruce Grove and St. Albert, and the towns of Beaumont, Devon, Morinville and Stony Plain.

Mayor Tanni Doblanko is a member of several EMRB committees and task forces, including the Executive Committee, Audit and Finance Committee (chair), Regional Agriculture Master Plan (RAMP) Task Force and Metropolitan Region Servicing Plan Task Force.

The Regional Transit Services Commission was created by regional municipalities to establish an integrated transit system that delivers more convenient and extensive service across municipalities and a better customer experience through improved community connections. Councillor Rick Smith and Mayor Tanni Doblanko represent Leduc County on this commission.

Edmonton Region Waste Advisory Committee – Committee

The Edmonton Region Waste Advisory Committee provides a forum for information sharing and facilitates joint waste minimization strategies and solutions.

The committee aims to share information on solid waste minimization, stimulate public policy to reduce waste and increase recycling and work towards regional standards for waste management. The Edmonton Region Waste Advisory Committee board is a voluntary committee comprised of an elected representative and administrative representative from each member municipality, including Leduc County, Parkland County, Strathcona County, Sturgeon County and Westlock County, the cities of Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc, Spruce Grove and St. Albert, and the towns of Beaumont, Calmar, Devon, Gibbons, Morinville, Stony Plain and Redwater. The committee also has several non-voting liaisons from the recycling industry and the provincial government.

Edmonton Regional Airports Authority – Appointers Committee

The Edmonton Regional Airports Authority is a community-based, financially independent, non-share corporation responsible for operating and developing two airports, the Edmonton International Airport and the Villeneuve Airport, in the best interests of the Edmonton region.

The board is responsible for the stewardship, strategic direction and oversight of the business and affairs of Edmonton Regional Airports Authority. The board is comprised of nominees from local and federal governments, with each nominee appointed by the appointer representatives from that organization. Leduc County’s appointer representatives are Mayor Tanni Doblanko and County Manager Duane Coleman.

Leduc Arts Foundry – Board

The Leduc Arts Foundry is working to advance arts and culture, with the visioning and planning of an arts and cultural centre in the City of Leduc.

Leduc and District Regional Waste Management Authority – Board

The Leduc and District Regional Waste Management Authority owns and operates the Leduc and District Regional Waste Management Facility, which county residents can access with a resident identification card.

The board is responsible for ensuring municipal solid waste disposal and services are provided to residents. The board is comprised of an elected representative from each Leduc County, the City of Leduc and the towns of Beaumont, Calmar and Devon.

The Nisku Business Association provides a unified voice for businesses in the Nisku Business Park and surrounding area.

North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance – Headwaters Alliance

The North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance is one of 11 Watershed Planning and Advisory Councils in Alberta, which works to bring stakeholders from different sectors together to collaborate on issues affecting the North Saskatchewan River watershed, and initiates and encourages activities that result in best practices for watershed management.

The Headwaters Alliance is a group of municipal partners working to assess the health of tributaries to help inform future zoning, bylaws and conservation. The Headwaters Alliance is comprised of an elected representative from each member municipality, including Leduc County, Brazeau County, Clearwater County, Parkland County, Wetaskiwin County and the towns of Devon, Drayton Valley, Rocky Mountain House and Thorsby.

Pigeon Lake Watershed Association – Pigeon Lake Watershed Management Plan Steering Committee

The Pigeon Lake Watershed Association is a non-profit environmental advocacy group working to enhance the health of the Pigeon Lake watershed and lake. The Pigeon Lake Watershed Management Plan was started by the association to detail how partners will work together to lessen impacts on the lake.

The steering committee is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the plan. The committee is comprised of representatives from local governments, including Leduc County, the provincial government, business and industry and other stakeholders.

River Valley Alliance – Board

The River Valley Alliance is a not-for-profit organization comprised of seven shareholder municipalities that border the North Saskatchewan River in the Edmonton metropolitan region. Together, this group works to create trail connectivity and access through a balanced approach to preserving, protecting and enhancing one o the largest metropolitan river valley park systems in the world.

The board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the River Valley Alliance. The board is comprised of an elected representative and one member at large from each member municipality, including Leduc County, Parkland County, Strathcona County, Sturgeon County, the cities of Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan and the Town of Devon.
