2025 dust control applications open on April 1

If you live beside a gravel road in Leduc County, you are eligible for dust control services.

Beginning Tuesday, April 1, applications for Leduc County's 2025 dust control program will be available. There are two different types of dust control products available in the County - calcium chloride and incorporated petroleum.

Calcium chloride

  • Calcium chloride is a top-shoot dust control product that is applied by spraying over the gravel surface.

  • Two applications of product will be completed for every residence applying for this dust control product. The second application will be automatically applied approximately six-to-eight weeks after the first application (weather permitting).

  • Residents desiring a calcium chloride dust control product on the County road adjacent to their residence are required to complete an application form and must prepay a fee of $640.45 plus GST for the first 122 metres (400 feet). Dust control requested beyond 122 metres (400 feet) will be charged an additional $10.50/metre.
Incorporated petroleum

  • Incorporated dust control is a petroleum-based product that is applied to the road surface and mixed in and packed by graders.

  • It is warrantied for one year from the date of application.

  • Residents desiring an incorporated dust control product on the County road adjacent to their residence will be required to complete an application form and must prepay a fee of $4359.55 plus GST for the first 122 metres (400 feet). Dust control beyond 122 metress (400 feet) will be charged an additional $40.98/metre.

How to apply

Online application and payment
  • Dust control applications can be filled out and paid for online.
  • Applications will be available beginning April 1. 
  • Visit our dust control page to learn more and apply.
In-person application and payment
  • Application forms are also available for pick up at our Road Operations office, located at 1103 5 Street in Nisku.
  • Applications with payment can be mailed to 1101 5 St., Nisku, AB T9E 2X3 or delivered in person to our Services Building, which is located at 1103 – 5 Street in Nisku.

Other information

  • GST will be added to all of the above-listed prices.
  • The prices listed are after receiving a Leduc County subsidy of $640.45 per strip.
  • This subsidy is provided to County residents living in permanent residences along a County gravel road.
  • Businesses will be charged the full rate without subsidy.
  • The dust control program begins as soon as possible after seasonal road bans have been lifted.
