Agriculture and acreages

Agriculture and acreages

Agriculture is the second largest industry in Leduc County and is a critical contributor to our local economy, culture and county's sustainability. In Leduc County, we have:

  • 977 farms
  • 1,365 farm operators
  • Almost $3 billion of farm capital at market value
  • field crops including grains, oilseeds, pulses, forages, greenhouse and fruit production and a multitude of livestock enterprises including beekeepers

Our Agricultural Services department supports farmers and rural residents with programs for weed control, drainage, crop pests, local food, management of coyotes and beavers on agricultural lands and offers equipment rentals.

Mental health and agriculture

Producers are resilient. They work long hours, often alone, under significant financial pressure, and can face adverse conditions that directly impact their livelihoods. There are a number of mental health supports available for agricultural producers.
