Leduc County Council holds the line for 2025 tax rates

Road projects, maintenance and bridge investments total more than $22 million

Minimizing financial impacts on County ratepayers and businesses was a crucial factor for Leduc County Council when finalizing the 2025 taxation rate.

“Council has voted to keep taxes at our 2024 rates,” says Leduc County Mayor Tanni Doblanko. “Our focus is and remains to be on our citizens, including the business community. This was the right decision for Leduc County.”

Leduc County Council approved the 2025 municipal budget during their regular council meeting, April 22, 2025. This budget outlines a $111.9 million operating budget and $26.7 million capital budget.

2025 budget highlights:

  • More than $18.5 million for road projects and maintenance
  • $3.7 million for bridge projects
  • $4.2 million for public transit
  • $2.25 million in cost-share recreation support to five partner municipalities
  • $422,000 for support to not-for-profit facilities and community recreation and cultural grants
  • $283,290 to support libraries

“The growth this County experienced over the past year has placed us in a favourable position,” says Mayor Doblanko. “We’re able to maintain services and proceed with capital projects without imposing a municipal property tax rate increase for 2025.”

The County saw taxable assessment values grow from $9.86 billion to $10.7 billion (8.48 per cent) resulting in $4.7 million in additional tax dollars for 2025.

Property tax notices will be mailed to residents and corporate citizens on May 15, 2025. Taxes are due June 30, 2025; in-person payments must be dropped off by the last working day of June (June 30, 2025).

Leduc County is responsible for collecting tax requisitions on behalf of the province and regional housing foundation. Once received as part of the municipal tax process, those funds are passed from the municipality to the province and foundation. This year, Leduc County will be expected to forward more than $34 million, compared to $28.9 million in 2024. Visit Alberta.ca to learn more about the province’s education property tax.
