Official election results released

Results from the Oct 18 municipal election are now official. Each council member from 2017-21 was re-elected or appointed to serve another four-year term on Leduc County Council.

  • Division two: Kelly-Lynn Lewis
  • Division three: Kelly Vandenberghe
  • Division four: Larry Wanchuk
  • Division five: Tanni Doblanko (acclaimed)
  • Division six: Glenn Belozer
  • Division seven: Raymond Scobie

Leduc County councillors will be sworn in at the organizational meeting on Oct. 26 at 9 a.m. At this meeting, council members will appoint a mayor from amongst themselves to serve a one-year term.

Recounts undertaken in divisions four and six 

After first reporting the unofficial election results on Oct. 18, the votes in divisions four and six were recounted.

In division four, the vote counts did not change. Larry Wanchuk received 207 votes (50.6 per cent) while Mel Kapicki received 202 votes (49.4 per cent).

In division six, the votes for each candidate changed slightly; however, the outcome did not change. Glenn Belozer received 247 votes (50.5 per cent) and Sam Kobeluck received 242 votes (49.5 per cent).

Leduc County saw a voter turnout of 41.2 per cent, with 2,962 of the eligible 7,188 voters in divisions two, three, four, six and seven voting. This is up from 35.3 per cent voter turnout in the 2017 municipal election.
