Scholarships and awards

Leduc County awards a variety of scholarships and bursaries to individuals graduating from high school to help offset the expense of post-secondary education.

Agricultural Service Board Bursary

The Agricultural Service Board Bursary is awarded each year to five post-secondary students enrolled in an agricultural-related program. The bursary amount is $1,000 per recipient.

To qualify for the Agricultural Service Board Bursary, you must meet the following eligibility guidelines:

  • attend an agriculture-related post-secondary program
  • be a Leduc County resident (or child of a resident)

We will give greater consideration to applicants who have not previously received the Agricultural Service Board Bursary.

Your application must include:

  • a completed application form
  • proof of acceptance into a post-secondary program, such as a copy of an acceptance letter or course registration
  • a 500-word essay describing your future aspirations and how your education will support these goals

Albert and Maria Rimer Memorial Scholarship

In memory of his parents, Bert Rimer gave Leduc County $50,000 to develop a scholarship for students that attain a high school diploma from Warburg High School.

The Albert and Maria Rimer Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a Warburg High School graduate entering post-secondary in an agriculture-related or health sciences field. The amount awarded varies each year, but will be at least $1,000.

To qualify for the Albert and Maria Rimer Memorial Scholarship, you must meet the following eligibility guidelines:

  • be a graduate of Warburg High School
  • be enrolled in a post-secondary program with a major in agriculture or agricultural/food, with secondary consideration to applicants in enrolled in health sciences and medicine
  • not have received this scholarship previously

Financial need will be taken into consideration when awarding the scholarship. The successful applicant will be required to provide their social insurance number and birthdate.

George L. Saubak Memorial Fund Scholarship

Katie Dringenberg provided Leduc County with $20,000 to start a scholarship fund. She requested the award be for a student who earns their high school diploma from Calmar High School, Thorsby High School or Warburg High School.

The George L. Saubak Memorial Fund Scholarship is awarded annually to a post-secondary student with a major in a medical field. The amount awarded varies each year.

To qualify for the George L. Saubak Memorial Fund Scholarship, you must meet the following eligibility guidelines:

  • be a graduate of Calmar High School, Thorsby High School or Warburg High School
  • be enrolled in a post-secondary program with a declared major in the field of medicine such as nursing, dentistry, pharmacy or veterinary medicine
  • not have received this scholarship previously

Financial need will be taken into consideration when awarding the scholarship. The successful applicant will be required to provide their social insurance number and birthdate.
