Local food

Our local food program supports and connects residents on both the producer and consumer sides of the local food industry. We host and support initiatives that increase public trust, awareness and education of food networks in the region. We also provide information on pests and diseases that affect trees and garden vegetables.

Upcoming events

Our local food coordinator is working to increase local food opportunities in the region by hosting education events and developing relationships with local food entrepreneurs.

Local Farmers, Local Food: Ag Tour

Sunday, July 17 and Saturday, Aug. 20

This summer, join Leduc Farm Friends and Leduc County for two local agriculture tours! These tours will connect you with diverse type of agriculture, as they showcase food, farms and experiences in the region.

Farm tours vary from learning about vegetable production, activities for kids and petting animals, to wine and mead tasting, and a separate farm-to-table dinner event! Participants will get a chance to meet the farmer and/or the food/beverage processor and learn more about their day-to-day activities.

Registration and fees

All participants must register in advance and select a tour time for each farm they want to visit.

  • Adults: $6 per person per-farm visit (13 years and older)
  • Children: $2 per person per-farm visit (3 years and older; 2 years and under are free)

Farms are relatively close to one another, so you may be able to take in a few if you plan a route early and select the times available. Check out the list of farms and tour stops below to find out what each stop has to offer.

To help facilitate registrations, we have teamed up with Farmzy. As you register for a farm tour, you will be redirected to the Farmzy website where you can create a user account. A user account will provide you with the ability to make bookings and payments, and receive booking confirmation receipts for each farm that you plan to visit. Please bring your confirmation receipt for each farm on the day of the tour.
